BSPA Event, 3 April 2009
BSPA in conjunction with BEL Employment Services held a social networking and resume skills workshop for its postgraduate members on Friday 3 April 2009. Ms Celia Yeo, Employment Services Manager led a presentation and discussion with attendees on resume-writing skills, offering professional insight and helpful 'do's and don'ts'. Employment Services Officer Mr Tim Burton gave members the opportunity to sharpen their social communication and networking skills. Students' feedback was that they found the information and practice opportunities extremely beneficial, and that they were able to make practical and immediate use of what they learnt. |

Networking BSPA launches the first semester of 2009 |

The Business School Postgraduate Association (BSPA) held a 'Crazy Hat and Hair' start of semester party to welcome existing members into the first semester of 2009. The party, held at The University of Queensland's Staff and Graduates Club on Friday 6 March was a grand success, and enjoyed by almost a hundred post-graduate students and faculty members. Amit Sharma, President of BSPA welcomed new students, introduced the newly elected Executive Committee who joined him in reiterating their commitment to provide value to BSPA members' student life. A fun networking game ran throughout the evening, allowing members to interact and get to know each other. Mr Hassan Bakr, a second semester Master of Business student won the first prize for his crazy 'yeti' style hair-do. Hassan and other prize winners took home Myers and Coles gift cards. |

BSPA Annual General Meeting |
BSPA Event, 15 November 2008
BSPA's Annual General Meeting was held at the UQ Staff Club on Saturday 15 November 2008. Amit Sharma was unanimously voted in as the new Committee President, and the appointment of Neil Pilcher as the new Secretary and Windy Wu as Treasurer was also decided upon through a vote. Outgoing President Ehsan Alvi thanked the members for their support and commended the Executive Committee for their achievements during their tenure, and offered his congratulations to the new committee. Many graduating members took the opportunity to farewell the many friends they had made through BSPA and thanked the committee for organising the events they had attended and benefitted from. |

Human Resources Seminar |
BSPA Event, 25 August 2008
On the 25th of August 2008, the BSPA held The Human Resources Seminar at the Staff & Postgraduates Club. Lyndal O'Neill and her term, representing the Human Resources Team from the Brisbane City Council, gave students an insight into the HR industry. The presentation helped students gain further knowledge about the Brisbane Council Management and Recruitment Center, including challenges faced by the team in recruiting and retention. After the presentation, students enjoyed wine and snacks with members of the HR team, who offered advice to students who were interested in a career in HR management. |

Supply Chain & Logistics Seminar |
BSPA Event, 29 August 2008
The BSPA 'Supply Chain & Logistics Seminar' took place at the Staff & Postgraduates club on Friday 29 August 2008. The guest speaker for this event was Maersk's Operations Manager, Michael Thirgood, who provided an insight to the Transport & Logistics (T&L) industry. With him was Phillip Jordan, Maersk's HR partner, and company expatriate , Lindsay. After the seminar, students wined and dined with members of the HR team who generously offered expert advice to candidates interested in a career with Maersk and in T&L. The HR team also collected resumes in hopes of recruiting UQ students into their company. |

Start of Semester Party |

BSPA had its "Start-of-the-Semester Party" held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Staff and Graduate's Club". Among the more than 60 attendants, a large proportion is new members of BSPA from this semester, as well as representatives from Tuscon Consulting, UQBS Employment Services, UQBS Postgraduate Liaison Office and BEL Employment Services. The party was aimed to increase communication and further develop the networking base for BSPA members, UQ Business School and industrial leaders. |

Adrian Di Marco, CEO of Technology One, Brisbane's leading IT company, at the BSPA Entrepreneurship Event seminar held on May 16th, 2008. Speaking with Mr. Di Marco was Clint Ramsay from UniQuest. Students were enlightened on the speakers' experiences in starting up their own businesses. |

The BSPA Welcome Night was held at the Staff and Postgraduates Club on the 7th of March 2008. More than 50 guests, who dined on tasty morsels and liquor, participated in the start-of-the-semester social cum ice-breaking event. The welcome night was aimed to increase communication and further develop the networking base for BSPA members, essentially for both former and new members. |
