UQ Business School academics have a great reputation for generating new knowledge through research, but don't think that means they aren't also great teachers.
At the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) meeting held in Yeppoon, Queensland last week, UQ Business School academics Dr Martie-Louise Verreynne and Dr Neil Paulsen were awarded Best Paper and Pearson Education ANZAM Management Educator of the Year Award respectively.
Verreynne said her paper examined how small firms develop strategy at different stages of the life cycle.
She said, "The Best Paper award was for the Business Policy and Strategy stream of the conference."
Verreynne also took out the Best Paper award for the same stream at the 2005 conference.
Paulsen's Pearson award comes on top of the UQ Business School Postgraduate Teaching Excellence Award announced on 1 December.
Senior marketing manager for Pearson Education Australia Helen Black said the award recognised the best university management teacher with nominations from all over Australia and New Zealand.
She said, "Neil's strengths included encouraging deep learning and understanding, building students' learning skills, giving useful feedback, and treating his students with respect."
Dr Martie-Louise Verreynne teaches entrepreneurship and strategic management and Dr Neil Paulsen teaches organisational behaviour, leadership and change, and teamwork.
