The entry requirements for each program are as follows:
Entry to the Honours program is by invitation only, which usually results after a prospective student has demonstrated, on their application form, that they meet certain criteria. In addition, there may be a quota on the number of Honours places available in any one year. This quota, if applied, is dependent on the proposed field of research and the resulting capacity of the department to ensure your appropriate supervision.
Qualifications
To be invited to join the Honours program you must meet the following criteria:
- Have completed the Bachelor of Business, the Bachelor of Business Management, or the Bachelor of Commerce at The University of Queensland; or
- Have obtained qualifications from another institution, which in the opinion of the Executive Dean and the Head of the School, are at least of the standard and content required by (1) above.
You must satisfy the Executive Dean and the Head of the School, that you would be a suitable candidate for the Honours degree, based on your qualifications from a tertiary institution and any further work that they may prescribe.
You may not enrol for the Honours degree more than 2 academic years after the completion of the required pass degree, or equivalent qualification, unless the Executive Dean, after consultation with the Head of the School, gives permission to do so. This permission will only be granted in special circumstances.
As a guideline only, the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required for admission to the Honours programs is at least 5.5 overall. However a high demand for entry to the Honours programs may result in the required GPA to be higher. Some consideration will be given to applications with the required GPA in business related courses in the final two years of study. Each case is assessed on any individual basis.
International students
In addition to the criteria noted in Qualifications above, it is necessary for international students to meet the English language requirements.
