Field of Current Research

Title of Research Area Brief Description
Innovation readiness of organisational cultures and subcultures and the innovation capacity of regions I am engaged in a focused program of research that takes a human resource management perspective to innovation, an overview of which is now summarised.
Entrepreneurial communication strategies for managing change My program of research is a response to sustained interest by both academic peers globally and the business community in improving their understanding of how government, institutions and entrepreneurs communicate to manage faster speed to market, ROI/profit and sophisticated business practices.
The knowledge management of high technology entrepreneurs and innovation in economic development The program of research over the next five years entails the continuing development of four areas of research that is knowledge management, high technology entrepreneurs, innovation, and economic development. How entrepreneurs organise within and between their firms to trade globally will be examined. For the next three years there are four projects that have commenced that deal with micro-finance, commercialisation by high technology firms in biotechnology and information technology. Along with examining individual firms, why entrepreneurs organise through high technology industry associations and other network arrangements is examined. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods are being utilised in these projects.
Learning and knowledge utilization strategies for improving innovation in agricultural research, development and commercialization Through my association with CSIRO and Queensland Department of Primary Industries and I have had an opportunity to participate in a longitudinal study of the management of change in agricultural research, development and commercialization. During the past ten years I have participated in several pieces of research that focus on commercialization of agricultural R&D.
Learning and knowledge utilization strategies for improving innovation in health services organisations Through my association with Queensland Health, I am currently involved in an ARC Linkage that focuses on culture change for a sustainable future: Strategy, culture and subculture in Queensland Health.
