The University of Queensland has cemented its reputation as a university in the world’s top 50 with the release of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018.
The international rankings saw UQ’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) place in the top 100 across all five BEL subject areas, ranking in the top 50 in three.
This year, UQ Business School’s accounting and finance program ranked 38th in the world, while hospitality and leisure management secured 16th place globally and second in Australia, and business and management studies held steady in the 51st-100th bracket.
The School of Economics’ economics and econometrics program ranked in the 51st-100th bracket, while the TC Beirne School of Law’s law program leapt 12 places to 36th in the world.
UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Joanne Wright said the strong results were a compelling endorsement of UQ’s focus on producing game-changing graduates to deliver globally significant solutions to the world’s challenges.
“UQ recognises that to achieve greater impact we must amplify our capacity to collaborate locally and abroad by developing knowledge seekers, innovators and leaders,” Professor Wright said.
“We are committed to attracting and retaining high-achieving staff and students, and responding agilely to the changing needs of employers.”
