Social entrepreneurship star Miluska Ebert has established herself as a change maker throughout her time at The University of Queensland Business School studying a Master of Business, majoring in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

Set to graduate on Thursday, 21 July Ms Ebert moved from Peru to the United States, where she completed her undergraduate degree, and now resides in Australia where she plans to follow her passion for social entrepreneurship into the not-for-profit sector.

Volunteering since she was 10 years old Ms Ebert has always had a passion for helping improve her community.

Throughout her studies Ms Ebert worked on a number of projects, one of the most significant being during her time as a strategy and new product development intern for the experimental new project ‘Entrepreneurship for Community Wellbeing’.

Sponsored by UQ Business School she travelled to Peru where she developed new products to help fund the project, and was involved in delivering entrepreneurship to local Peruvians who have no education.

Graduating with an overall seven in all of her social entrepreneurship courses Miluska said her journey at UQ has been an amazing experience.

“I have loved every moment of my degree and have learnt so much, not only the theory but the real world application of that theory as well. I was fortunate enough to have amazing lecturers such as Dr Lance Newey, who saw potential in me and gave me once in a lifetime opportunities to apply my knowledge and challenge myself,” she said.

UQ Business School Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship Dr Lance Newey said Ms Ebert is a true innovator with her strong commercial mind, pragmatic realism combined with social vision and tough resilient persistence.

“UQ Business School is focused on developing graduates who cannot just apply theory in the real world but also have a positive impact on social change for a better world. This requires skills above the ordinary, including transformational leadership to guide skeptics through change. Milu Ebert is one of those stars. During her degree she went above and beyond to lead projects that would benefit the disadvantaged, both back in her home developing country of Peru and also locally here in Brisbane,” he said.
