Dr Mark Griffin is an Industry Fellow and Casual Lecturer in Business Analytics for the UQ School of Business. Mark is one of those rare people that appreciates analytics from both a data science and a business strategy perspective.

Data Science … Mark is a qualified computer engineer, a Certified Professional with the Australian Computer Society, and a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Mark also holds a Masters in statistics, and is on the Executive Committee for the Statistical Society of Australia. Mark is probably the most active presenter of short courses in statistics in Australia having presented over 100 two-day and 30 five-day workshops across Australia.

Business Strategy … Mark is also an experienced business analyst. Mark is an active member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (a society with 30,000 members internationally). Mark was responsible for establishing the IIBA Special Interest Group for Business Analytics, and for launching the IIBA program where IIBA members could be certified in business analytics (this included writing the initial proposal for this program, writing the scope for the certification exam, writing some exam questions, and critiquing others).

Outside the University of Queensland Mark is the Director of Insight Research Services Associated, a company providing training and consulting services in business analytics. In this role Mark presents a regular webinar program on the business strategy for analytics.
