Master of Leadership and Innovation FAQs

To complete the full master’s program, you will complete eight courses that are delivered by the University of Queensland. Because the University is based in Australia, the tuition fees for the MLI Core Courses of the Master of Leadership and Innovation are in Australian dollars.

There are a few ways to pay student fees and charges, but our preferred payment methods are Flywire for international payments, or BPAY, Visa or Mastercard for Australian payments. For more information on how fees are paid, please refer to my.UQ. 
 

Designed for professionals, the Master of Leadership and Innovation program fees prioritise affordability. Please note that because the Master of Leadership and Innovation already competitively priced against other UQ programs, we do not currently offer program-specific scholarships for this program. We encourage students to explore scholarship opportunities through UQ Scholarships and Business School Scholarships. 

Students may qualify for certain financial aid services. Domestic students may be eligible to receive assistance with the cost of their tuition fees from the Australian Government loan scheme called FEE-HELP. UQ can also assist international students to apply for Financial Aid from your home country. For more information, please visit UQ Future Students. 

The Master of Leadership and Innovation program can be completed in 1-year full-time (or part-time equivalent). 

Students can expect 4-5 hours study per week for each MLI Core Course. Courses will run for 13 weeks. 

The number of courses you wish to complete each semester will depend on how much you can commit to study each semester. At UQ, a standard full-time study load is 8 units (generally 4 courses) per semester. 'Full-time' is defined as 75% or more of a standard full-time study load, i.e., 6 units (generally 3 courses) or more per semester.

Yes, students in the Master of Leadership and Innovation will have access to all resources available for on-campus students, including UQ Employability and also BEL Careers and Employability. Students can consult with our Careers Advisors, participate in Career and Professional Development events and access our virtual internship opportunities online. Students are encouraged to participate in these valuable employability opportunities to further their career development and plan ahead.

The University partners with edX to deliver the fully online Master of Leadership and Innovation program. 

Unfortunately, learners residing in one or more of the following countries or regions will not be able to register for this program: Iran, Cuba and the Crimea region of Ukraine. While edX has sought licenses from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to offer our courses to learners in these countries and regions, the licenses we have received are not broad enough to allow us to offer this program in all locations. edX truly regrets that U.S. sanctions prevent us from offering all of our courses to everyone, no matter where they live.
 

You can exit the master’s early if your circumstances change. A student who withdraws from the program after completing 8 units from the MLI course list may apply and be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Innovation.

Yes. Students in the Master of Leadership and Innovation may take up to ten years from commencement to complete the program. Students will work with their Postgraduate Student Liaison Officer to plan their enrolment each semester, as well as any planned semesters off, to ensure timely completion of their program.

Students will be taught by leading academics in leadership and innovation. You will have ongoing engagement with your course coordinator (course lead academic) throughout the semester through email, discussion forums and virtual meetings. Our program offers several virtual networking opportunities with fellow students throughout your program.

Students can work with their Postgraduate Student Liaison Officer to plan enrolment each semester to ensure any necessary prerequisites are met. Students are expected to complete the capstone course in their final semester of study. The order in which other courses are taken vary. 

This program does not include live seminars. All courses can be completed 100% online and at a time of day that is convenient for your schedule.

Our online courses will allow you to study whenever, and wherever, suits you. Through your student portal, you'll access course content and learning materials, collaborate with peers and lecturers, and complete assessment. You’ll have a dedicated support channel for online learners, as well as the ability to connect one-on-one with your learning team. Learn more about the online learning experience at UQ. 

Graduates will be awarded the 'Master of Leadership and Innovation' upon graduation from the University of Queensland.

There will be no mention of "online" on your diploma and it is equivalent to an on-campus credential. This qualification is recognised as a master's degree on the Australian Qualifications Framework and worldwide.
