- UQ Business School Deans Medal of Merit: Jemina Dunn
2017 posthumous MBA graduate, Ms Jemina Dunn, exemplified outstanding virtue and service to her country. Over a career of more than two decades, Jemina was widely respected for her contributions to state and local governments in Queensland and New South Wales, and in particular as an advocate for Queensland industry as Policy and Public Affairs Manager, then State Director, of the Australian Industry Group. Jemina specialised in growth management, city planning and public transport infrastructure. She held several directorships, including a seat on the board of Queensland Rail. Before her passing in October of 2017, Jemina was appointed CEO of South Bank Corporation. During her three month tenure she made meaningful and valuable contributions to the operations of the corporation, and the broader South Bank precinct; Jemina was much loved and highly respected by her South Bank team. At UQ, we will remember Jemina as a vibrant and engaged person. She emanated truly compassionate leadership and was a great asset to our community. Not only did Jemina excel academically, her encouraging nature spurred her MBA peers to success. Jemina will be fondly remembered for her dedication, her delightful personality, big hearted smile and unfailing kindness. VALE Jemina.

Ben Roberts-Smith served with distinction in the Australian Army and Special Air Service Regiment. His service spans over 19 years and included operational deployments to East Timor, Fiji, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. In 2011 he was awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia (VC), the highest award in the Australian honours system. Since retiring from the armed forces in late 2013, Ben has been a leading strategic adviser to Government and industry on a broad range of defence, security and personnel issues. He is Founder and Director of his own consultancy—RS Group Australia, is Chair of the National Australia Day Council, and Channel Seven General Manager for rural networks and the metropolitan station, Seven Brisbane.
