How much does it cost to study the Master of Leadership in Service?

It costs approximately $27,000 AUD to study the Master of Service in Leadership Innovation.

The first component of the program, UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters®, includes five modules that teach you how to become an effective leader. The cost of completing these five modules is $1,849 AUD. However, each MicroMasters course is priced differently and can be paid for separately rather than one large sum upfront. Visit the UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters® website for individual course prices and conversion rates.

The second component of the program, MLSI Core Courses, includes eight courses that will allow you to stay one step ahead of the abrupt and constant innovation disrupting contemporary industries. The total cost of this component is $24,640 AUD. Each course is approximately $3080 AUD. If you wish to complete two courses per teaching period, $6160 AUD.

These fees are subject to change and are indexed by the University annually. Students are not permitted to pay monthly and are required to pay by the due date for the teaching period.

If you are applying as an international student, you will also need to pay a $100 application fee.

Is it compulsory to complete the MicroMasters® part of the program?

The UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters®is a compulsory component of the Master of Service in Leadership Innovation program, even for applicants with vast career experience. This part of the program can be completed before, during or after the UQ courses.

To earn the MicroMasters® credential, learners must complete and successfully earn a Verified Certificate in all four Business Leadership courses and pass the Capstone Assessment course. The capstone assessment involves a knowledge test, a leadership reflection essay and a video presentation.

Can I study the MLSI Core Courses of the Master of Service in Leadership Innovation first?

Yes, you can study the MLSI Core Courses of the program before UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters®, but only if you have already previously completed a bachelor’s degree (and relevant work experience, if required). If you have applied to study the Master of Service in Leadership Innovation and haven’t previously completed a bachelor’s degree, you will need to complete the UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters® before applying to commence the Master of Leadership in Service Innovation.

How long will it take me to complete the program, and how much time should I allocate to studying?

UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters®
Average length of time to complete: 3–10 weeks per course, up to 5 or 6 months in total

Are there flexible study options? How should I plan my studies?

If you have a bachelor’s degree and have been accepted into the program without conditions, you can complete the entire master’s degree in 1.5 years by studying the UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters® and MLSI Core Courses at the same time. This will allow you to graduate sooner, but will also mean a greater study load.

If you’d like to discuss the best way to organise your studies, please reach out to our Postgraduate Student Liaison Officers at info@business.uq.edu.au.

Can I start the MicroMasters® part of the program first, before committing to the entire master’s program?

Why are the MLSI Core Courses of the program charged in Australian dollars?

To complete the full Master's program, you will complete eight courses that are run separately to edX by The University of Queensland. Unfortunately, learners residing in one or more of the following countries or regions will not be able to register for this program: Iran, Cuba and the Crimea region of Ukraine. While edX has sought licenses from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to offer our courses to learners in these countries and regions, the licenses we have received are not broad enough to allow us to offer this program in all locations. edX truly regrets that U.S. sanctions prevent us from offering all of our courses to everyone, no matter where they live.

Does the program support a student visa to Australia?

You'll study this 100% online course from the comfort of your home. Because the program is fully online, entry into Australia is not required. Consequently, the program does not support international student visa applications.

Designed for professionals, the Master of Leadership in Service Innovation program fees prioritise affordability. Please note that because the Master of Leadership in Service Innovation is already competitively priced against other UQ programs, we do not currently offer program-specific scholarships for this program. We encourage students to explore scholarship opportunities through UQ Scholarships and Business School Scholarships.

What if my circumstances change after I’ve started studying?

You can exit the Master's early when completing the UQx Business Leadership MicroMasters® credential and receive a verified certificate of completion after you finish the capstone assessment course.
