UQ tops Queensland in AFR best Business School ranking, and places third in Australia
The University of Queensland (UQ) Business School has secured the top spot in Queensland and third in Australia in the Australian Financial Review BOSS Best Business Schools for 2025.
Among a competitive field of 36 Australian business schools, UQ Business School landed the top 3 placement for the second year running, also ranking second for research and third for reputation.
The Business School also saw an overall score increase of 2 points from 2024, rising to 82 points in total, with only 1 point separating second and third place.
Dean and Head of the Business School, Professor Brent Ritchie, said the 2025 result reflects UQ’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading business schools, with strong research impact and globally acclaimed academics who bring deep industry networks to enrich learning and career outcomes.
“It’s an honour to place again as one of the top business schools in Australia,” Professor Ritchie said.

“The accolade shows UQ Business School’s dedication to producing impactful research that addresses real-world challenges, an approach that also guides our business programs and courses – providing academic excellence with strong industry connections to enhance learning and career pathways.”
In conversation with AFR, Professor Ritchie highlighted that UQ Business School’s strong reputation for both teaching and research attracts an exceptional, yet diverse calibre of students, leading to a strong cohort experience.
“We are attracting a lot of the best and brightest students coming to the Business School. That is also a unique selling point, that they’re actually surrounded by a strong cohort, who will push them and stretch them,” he said to AFR reporter Christopher Niesche.
UQ Business School Director of Research, Professor Marta Indulska, highlighted the importance that the School’s research plays in enhancing its reputation and connecting with industry to help tackle local and global challenges.

“I’m proud of our Business School academic community, whose work continues to shape global conversations and influence policy, practice and education,” Professor Indulska said.
“This year’s research ranking reinforces our position as a strong leader in research excellence and research impact. It highlights the value of our highly collaborative approach to solving business problems and is a product of our strong research culture.”
