Business school representatives from across the Asia-Pacific will converge on Brisbane from 21-23 May for the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) annual workshop.
The first event to be held in Australia since AAPBS was formed in October 2004; the workshop is hosted by UQ Business School and will address the topic Learning in the Global Landscape. AAPBS President and Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Beijing's Tsinghua University Professor Yingyi Qian said the annual workshop was a wonderful opportunity for AAPBS members to network and exchange ideas with their counterparts from other countries. He said, "The workshop focuses on contemporary topics relevant to the development of business education and business education professionals within the Asia-Pacific region. "The practical knowledge and skills developed at the workshop will be directly transferable to the classroom environment, thereby providing immediate benefit to business students. "AAPBS is honoured to be able to hold the event at UQ, which is an AAPBS Council member and a leading educational institution. "It is through the constant support of our members that AAPBS has grown to an organization with almost 100 members from 16 countries, and continues to enjoy strong growth."
Head of UQ Business School and workshop host Professor Tim Brailsford said the annual workshop focused on teaching and learning and would contribute to improving outcomes for graduates across the region. He said, "The workshop aims to give participants ideas and strategies they can implement in their own institutions." "Participants are drawn from Malaysia, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, Korea, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, the People's Republic of China, and Singapore."
Presenters include ex Fortune 500 Global HR Director Tessa Raeburn, Professor Pankaj Sah from the Queensland Brain Institute, Telstra's Susie Steigler-Peters, and Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning at the University of Sydney Professor Mark Freeman. Head of UQ Business School Tim Brailsford said the primary purpose of AAPBS was to provide leadership and representation to advance the quality of business and management education in Asia-Pacific region.
