Former UQ Business School student proves to be a leader online

With a UQ Business School MBA under his belt, Andrew Sisley is taking his online leadership company to new heights. In May, Mr Sisley launched online leadership program Leader3, which provides interactive learning activities allowing clients to develop their leadership skills in four key areas—communication, self management, working with managers and managing others. Six months later, Mr Sisley has continued to grow his company and has recently worked with the Sydney Roosters NRL club and Real Estate Dynamics (RED). "I was fortunate to meet with NRL and Channel 9 personality Phil Gould who was impressed with the principal of what Leader3 had to offer," he said. "Phil Gould saw the potential for Leader3 within the NRL and organised a meeting with the NRL CEO David Gallop and NRL education manager Matt Francis. This meeting lead to the Sydney Roosters enrolling their captain, Braith Anasta, league legend Anthony Minichiello, several key players, the clubs player development welfare officer and their PR/media manager in the program." Mr Sisley said Brian Sinclair, player development welfare officer at the Roosters, is 'keen to trial the program with a view to it forming part of their 'New Attitude, New Beginning' campaign, and the review will be used to assess how Leader3 might fit in with other clubs and areas within the NRL'. "From a personal and professional perspective, dealing with the NRL has been a great experience. At every level throughout the NRL, including those at NRL HQ and in the clubs, when you get the opportunity to meet with them, you get an insight into just how professional they are. I have learnt a great deal from meeting such elite athletes and highly skilled professional administrators," he said. In addition to providing leadership skills through web-based programs, Mr Sisley has also used the skills he learnt at UQ Business School to develop a marketing partnership with Real Estate Dynamics (RED). "RED are an impressive company that have developed a comprehensive online support program for Real Estate professionals providing a business tool for both sales and rental operations. The synergy between Leader3 and RED are twofold; the training Leader3 provides is completely relevant to the real estate industry, and both businesses are online," he said. "So we are working together using the synergy to support both businesses. Leader3 for example has a banner ad on the RED website, and also is included in the RED newsletter. So the relationship with RED is a great example of building an online business using web marketing and strategic alliances. RED provides additional support options to their valued clients, and Leader3 has increased exposure on the web. It's a pleasure to be dealing with such a developed, successful and professional business" Having worked in the retail industry in managerial positions for 13 years, Mr Sisley combined his practical personal experience with the expertise of a UQ Business School MBA to create and foster Leader3. "Basically, everything I learnt at uni, coupled with my career experience led me to going into business myself. I wrote the entire program, developed it in conjunction with graphic artists, web developers and other advisors and am now six months into the selling and business building process," he said. "I am using all of the skills from the MBA such as marketing, strategic alliances, and co-branding – all of the business and entrepreneurial skills taught by the MBA programme to conceptualise, develop, launch and grow a business." "My time at UQ had an enormously positive impact on my life. I had an amazing time on many levels. The University itself was first class, the MBA was invaluable, the people I met were too, and the whole vocational experience for me was fantastic." To find out more about Leader3 go to and
