UQ Business School Supports Innovation Nation

On Tuesday 12 May UQ Business School joins CSIRO, NICTA and the Department of Defense in supporting Innovation Nation, the premier event at CeBit, a three day conference and exhibition exploring emerging business technologies and commercialization in Australia. Hosted by NICTA CEO Dr David Skellern, Innovation Nation brings together key members of the business and ICT community providing a unique forum for Australian and International leaders to share ideas on innovation and commercialization. Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law Professor Tim Brailsford said Innovation Nation provided important opportunities for the brightest minds in the field to discuss how best to revitalize Australia's ICT sector. "Events of the caliber of Innovation Nation are fundamental in developing effective local and international networks in the ICT community. UQ Business School has been supporting network building in this area for over eight years through Enterprize, its $100,000 commercialisation competition." Now in its ninth year the competition, open to entrepreneurs and start-ups across Australia, has assisted over 200 finalists bring their ideas closer to market readiness and has provided important opportunities for entrants to forge connections, not only with other entrepreneurs, but also with business angels and venture capitalists. Professor Brailsford said entering the competition was as simple as submitting a concept plan by Friday 17 July 2009. "Finalists will be announced in the week commencing Monday 10 August and those teams will each prepare a detailed business plan and pitch it to the judging panel," he said. "We provide free pitch coaching to finalists to prepare them for the ultimate test - pitching to an audience made up of most of Queensland's investment and venture capital industries on Friday 16 October."
