The Federal Shadow Minister for Broadband and Communications, Malcolm Turnbull, will be the guest speaker at the next Second Chance UQ Business School Breakfast event, to be held on Monday, 27 August.
Malcolm Turnbull has been a member of the Australian House of Representatives since 2004 and was Leader of the Opposition and Parliamentary Leader of the Liberal Party from 2008 to 2009. Described as ‘a force of nature’ in the business world and Australian politics, Malcolm is a well-respected figure who speaks with conviction.
The Second Chance Breakfast Series endeavours to raise much needed funds for the community of homeless women in south-east Queensland. UQ Business School has sponsored the Breakfast Series since its inception in 2011 and also works collaboratively with the group on research initiatives. Recently this has included the production of a documentary to increase the awareness of what is often a concealed issue, women’s homelessness. MBA students at UQ Business School also work in partnership with the fundraising group as part of the School’s Social Economic Engagement Programme.

Second Chance Programme Fund Raising Group was established in 2001 as a charity to address the problem of women’s homelessness in south-east Queensland. All money raised by Second Chance is dedicated to ‘getting women off the streets’ and helping them take back control of their lives.
