UK expert Professor James Barlow yesterday shared the results of his research on the adoption of telecare at a seminar for Queensland Health. Professor Barlow is the Director of the Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre at Imperial College London. Dr April Wright, who is Chief Investigator on an Australian Research Council Linkage grant won by UQ Business School, said Professor Barlow's visit showed the benefits of university collaborations for industry partners. She said, "We are working with Queensland Health and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital to better understand how health professionals work within managerial systems in hospital emergency departments." "Professor Barlow is an expert on policy and innovation in health in the United Kingdom, researching as well as advising government and industry in this field." "We were delighted that the School's links with Imperial College allowed us to bring his expertise to the industry partners on our own research project." "Such was the interest from Queensland Health that Professor Barlow's seminar was live-streamed to sites across the State." Dr Wright said a number of UQ Business School academics were involved in research in the health sector. She said, "There are many opportunities for us to work more closely with Queensland Health through research, degree programs, and executive education." The research team is made up of Dr Wright, Professor Peter Liesch, Professor Mat Hayward and Dr Stuart Middleton.
