UQ Business School Finance Professor, Robert Faff, has been announced as one of two Visiting Research Professors for 2015 under a new program recently launched by the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).

The aim of the program is to provide academics from various institutions, the opportunity to build on their research skills through interactions with a leading accounting and finance researcher.

As part of the program, Professor Faff will spend one week at each of two AFAANZ member institutions, presenting research papers, meeting senior department staff, and providing feedback on individual pieces of research and research ideas.

Professor Faff is very honoured and eager to be entrusted with this important responsibility by AFAANZ.

“It allows me the wonderful opportunity to visit several accounting and finance groups across Australia and New Zealand, with the general goal of assisting in the development of research skills. I am particularly excited about sharing the insights from my recent passion – pitching research –   which is a distillation of ideas drawn from my own research journey spanning over 30 years in academia,” he said.

AFAANZ hopes the program will improve the impact and reputation of the accounting and finance disciplines as a whole, with flow-on benefits to all institutions through better recognition in public policy and improved success of higher quality researchers in competitive grants.

In addition to the core roles of the AFAANZ Visiting Research Professor program, Professor Faff will also be conducting an extensive series of shorter ’workshop’ style visits with various  AFAANZ institutions.

These visits will be around the theme of ’pitching‘ research based on his recent Social Science Research Network paper titled “Pitching Research”.
