Queensland Deputy Premier, Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, and Minister for Trade and Investment, Jackie Trad, has congratulated The University of Queensland and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, following the signing of an historic Memorandum of Understanding between the two prestigious universities in Bangalore today.
Speaking at a Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce event focused on the urban infrastructure development and the education sectors, Minister Trad welcomed the signing as significant development in executive management education in both countries.
“The five-year Memorandum of Understanding opens the door to a range of exciting collaborations between one of the premier business schools in India, and a University offering an MBA program recently ranked as the best in the Asia-Pacific region by The Economist, for the fourth consecutive year,” Ms Trad said.
“I understand that the signing of this MOU will enable IIM-B and The University of Queensland to explore the possibility of offering joint programs in Executive Education; exchange opportunities for students and staff; joint organisation of research seminars, works shops and conferences and – of particular significance from Queensland’s perspective – collaborative research projects in areas of mutual interest leading to joint publications.”
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is an acknowledged hub of academic activity in India and globally. It is recognised as a leading international post-graduate centre of management studies.
The Bangalore event was part of trade mission to Indonesia, Singapore and India being led by Minister Trad to promote Queensland’s expertise in vocational education and training, urban planning and design, transport systems and knowledge industries.
